OK, so here goes. From ...

OK, so here goes. From all online information, the hotel looks way nicer than it really is, so we were somewhat disappointed. From all the advertised glitz and glamour of the roaring twenties, not much is left to be seen. The grand ballroom, supposing to be something really impressive is closed off, so you cannot really see anything but the lobby which, despite impressive original design, looks a bit dodgy. The hotel needs a lot of TLC that it really deserves given its history. Location is good if you wanna be in the very center of things, but after experiencing it - I definitely wouldn't do it again. The Times Square is just 50m away, but it is turned into a total circus, with nothing but junkies and tourist scams and traps through and through. Don't get me wrong, it's very cool to experience it and walk through it, but definitely not a place to stay and enjoy your time; especially considering the unique mix of joint/subway/urine/garbage smells. Bryant park, just a 10 minute walk away is a beautiful place with a lot nicer atmosphere. After seeing how well the NY subway system works, the only important location criteria for a hotel is to be close to a subway station, or a bus station if you are coming in by a bus. The check-in process was simple enough, and one of 6 elevators brought us up to 11th floor relatively fast despite quite crowded lobby - mornings have a bit longer waiting time for the elevators. The room was facing away from the street which was good, but had a strong humid smell coming off from the AC that cleared off after a few hours. The bed was very comfy, the sheets were good but the AC was *SO* loud that it kept waking us up every time it turned on. It was way louder than a hair dryer and you couldn't hear the TV when the AC was blowing. Both the room and the TV were decently sized, as was the bathroom, and we got a bottle of complimentary prosecco as a welcome gift (cheapest brand possible, but a nice sentiment though). Breakfast was something we found to be very, very poor, or at least compared to similar European hotels we are accustomed to. So, despite advertising it as theirs, the hotel actually does not have its own dining room. Instead, you get vouchers for three restaurants on the premisses. The restaurant staff looks down on you when as soon as you come in with the voucher, and you get a second-tier service. In two of them, you have grab-and-go option, which effectively means this: In Bond 45, you go to the very, VERY dodgy basement and get served with croissant or cereal in a glass + mini bagel with eggs + coffee/juice/water - you get a doggy bag and you go. As a comparison, we went there for a dinner as "regular" guests, and were approached in a completely different way. Another restaurant, Friedman's, doesn't have grab-and-go; the only way for you to have a breakfast there is to sit down for $6,50 + tax fee, although you already paid for the breakfast in the first place?! There, you also have an option between eggs and something else that I don't remember, and juice or coffee. Juice comes as a just 1dl smallest of glasses, with no refill, and just for illustration, they charge you 3 small strips of bacon literally 11 (ELEVEN) dollars?! I mean, it's a complete shame and we were sooo disappointed by having paid for breakfast in our booking, and then having to pay another 40+ dollars for being allowed to sit down to eat it, and ordering 3 strips of bacon and another 1dl of orange juice. That's no way to treat the guests. Overall, it left quite a lot to be desired, and left a bit of an sour taste. Again, this hotel and its heritage deserve a lot more.

Excelente ubicación y precio ...

Excelente ubicación y precio razonable. Lo único malo es que nos dejaron de dar jabones y no había heladera. Recomendable si quieren estar cómodos en el centro de la ciudad.
